Hector Independent Social Work is a small organisation offering bespoke child and family assessments and independent
social work opinions.
Pippa Hector started Hector Independent Social Work in 2008 having been employed in the statutory sector as a Senior Practitioner in a Children and Families Team, with a background of Child Protection, extensive Care Proceedings and Mental Health work.
She has established a reputation for in depth assessments and a comprehensive range of Social Work Services including Parenting and Kinship Care Assessments, Assessment of Parents with Additional Learning Needs using the ParentAssess and PAMs tools and Social Work Advisory Services.
As demand has grown a small team of Social Workers has been established with experience in Children and Families work and Care Proceedings.
Our services
Parenting Assessments
We are able to assess families with a range of complex needs. All assessments are underpinned by the National Assessment Framework
Our parenting assessments usually take between 50 and 60 hours depending if a sole carer or a couple are being considered. We aim to report in approximately 6 weeks from receipt of instruction.
Special Guardianship Reports
Assessment will include analysis of the carers parenting knowledge and capacity to care for children. It will also cover their perception and understanding of the Local Authority concerns and how any future contact with family would be managed. It will particularly focus on the risk factors in relation to the family dynamic and ability to provide permanence.
Assessment of Parents with Additional Needs
We specialise in assessments of parents with learning disabilities, autism and a range of other additional needs. We are trained in use of the PAMs assessment but use additional tools to support our work.
These assessments are based on 55 hours for a single carer and 70 hours for a couple.
